Overview

Trattoria La Sagra del Vino da Candido is a cherished Roman restaurant nestled in the heart of Rome at Via Marziale, 5. This authentic trattoria captures the essence of traditional Roman cuisine with a menu that expertly balances rustic flavors and refined technique. It is a place where locals gather, drawn by the reputation for homemade dishes that warm both heart and palate.

The dining experience here centers around classic Roman specialties. The Rigatoni Alla Carbonara stands out — creamy, perfectly balanced, and hailed by many as among the best in the city. For those seeking a richer, slower-cooked delight, the Coda Alla Vaccinara (braised oxtail) offers tender, juicy meat bathed in a mildly spiced sauce that invites you to savor every bite. This dish, in particular, earns high praise for its depth and traditional preparation, often enjoyed with the restaurant’s chewy, fresh bread that soaks up the flavorful juices.

The menu also features comforting staples like Pasta E Fagioli and hearty meat dishes such as Pollo Alla Cacciatora and Involtini Al Sugo. Patrons seeking authentic antipasti will appreciate the Antipasto Di Terra, which perfectly preludes the rich flavors ahead. For dessert, the classic Cantucci Al Miele and Tozzetti E Vin Santo provide a delightful, sweet finale rooted in regional tradition.

Beyond the food, the trattoria cultivates a welcoming and unpretentious atmosphere that feels both lively and intimate. It is a favored spot among locals and travelers who appreciate genuine hospitality and engaging service—staff members not only speak English but are known for their warmth and entertaining manner, bridging cultural gaps effortlessly. The space encourages relaxed gatherings, making it ideal for those who want to immerse themselves in true Roman dining culture.

This is another restaurant that was recommended by the local Italian who grew up in Roma and lived in this area for many years. As was a bit late, I only ordered the main course. The oxtail was very tender and juicy. Well prepared with spicy (very tolerable) sauce which was really delicious. With the chewy bread, I finished all the sauce too. I was told that they are quite famous for their homemade Italian cuisines. Recommend.

The atmosphere is great, the restaurant is very welcoming. I would recommend to try the Roman Tripe. Very good appetizer. For my taste the food was a bit over salted but this can vary for you. For 4 people it came around to €93.

Came here with friends and you know it's good when middle aged Italians frequent the place! Honestly, this made the atmosphere soooo good and authentic, was super enjoyable. The food was also absolutely delicious, every dish was fantastic. Service as well was amazing, charismatic and charming staff, one staff members' English was very good. Food was not expensive either, we got a few dishes to share but also each had our own main, wine to share for the table. Highly, highly recommend!!
